Las Terrenas

LAS BALLENAS BEACH

Named Las Ballenas because of three rocks in the distance that resemble humpback whales; this spacious and wide white sand beach boasts a shallow and calm sea right in the heart of the small town of Las Terrenas. With hotels, villas, bars and restaurants on one side of the beach it offers plenty of shade and shallow water ideal for families. Along the west end is where the river meets the sea and where you'll see locals cooling off in the cool waters. Las Ballenas beach is ideal for a morning or sunset swim due to its close proximity to various accommodations and restaurants.
